Chelsea are interested in signing Brazilian defender Murillo, but Nottingham Forest are expecting offers for the centre back.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea will make a deal for Murillo since the Brazilian defender’s profile matches Enzo Maresca’s playing style. The centre-back’s impressive start to the new season has piqued the interest of several other clubs, however Nottingham Forest will make any suitor’s life difficult in negotiations.
Nottingham Forest has endured difficult seasons in the Premier League since its return to the top division. Until last season, they ensured challenging relegation battles, but their form has taken a wild change since the start of the new season.
Following their spectacular victory over West Ham, Forest climbed into third place, one point behind Manchester City and one ahead of fourth-place Chelsea. Their remarkable run under Nuno Espirito Santo has been aided by significant improvements in the offense and their ability to defend in games, as they are the division’s second-best defensive team behind Liverpool.
Because of their position in the English football pyramid, some of its top players will catch the interest of major clubs, as is the case with centre-back Murillo. Chelsea had interest in Trevoh Chalobah throughout the summer, with reports indicating that they were willing to offer him in return.
Instead, Espirito Santo sought Nikola Milenkovic, and the duo, together with Murillo, have created a formidable connection in the back. Forest are expecting offers for Murillo next summer, but given the current situation, signing the Brazilian defender would be incredibly tough and expensive for suitors.
Chelsea are interested in Murillo
Chelsea is considering a move for Murillo next season. The Brazilian’s profile and ball-playing skills make him an ideal fit for Enzo Maresca’s preferred centre-back style. However, Murillo’s price would have skyrocketed following recent performances, since he has appeared in all ten Premier League games this season for Forest.
Liverpool are also interested in Murillo as a potential replacement for Virgil van Dijk, so the Brazilian will have plenty of options. Chelsea’s new transfer policy calls for players like the Forest star, and they have not shied away from paying the proper price for their targets. As a result, the Blues have a good chance of making progress in negotiations with Forest, although they will have a difficult time negotiating the price.
