Former Ipswich defender Mick Mills speaks with BBC Radio Suffolk on the answer to Kalvin Phillips’ red card against Leicester City on Saturday.
“Cameron Burgess was almost pushed down the pecking order, but he’s come in, been perfect, and played exceptionally well.
“I think Conor Chaplin got his chance at Brentford last week and seized it. He did the same [against Leicester], and he was perhaps one of our greatest players.
“Looking at the central midfield duo, we had to play last week without Sam Morsy. Cajuste returned, maybe earlier than we expected [following his injury], and not only did he improve his own game, but I think he improved Kalvin Phillips. That partnership appears to be working better than the Morsy-Phillips partnership this season.
“The Morsy and Phillips alliance, for me, wasn’t really taking off; that aspect of the game was falling behind other parts, and it’s a critical area.
“Now that Phillips is going to be suspended for the next game, do you think Morsy-Cajuste will be okay?
“We have got a number of permutations there and a little less worry now that we have seen a number of them come in and play up to the standard, so maybe we will have a decent pairing.”
