Anthony Elanga feels as though his £15 million move from Manchester United to Nottingham Forest has been off to the “perfect” start.

First impressions are said to matter. Anthony Elanga undoubtedly made an excellent choice.

The summer signing from Manchester United breezed through Mikel Arteta’s backline with a burst of acceleration that would not have looked out of place on the Silverstone circuit, setting up Taiwo Awoniyi to pull one back, mere moments after coming off the bench for his Nottingham Forest debut on the opening weekend.

Even though that was merely a consolation, Elanga’s subsequent contribution was crucial.

The Swedish international scored the game’s lone goal, giving Forest its first victory at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium since 1995. Elanga was born seven years earlier.

It makes sense that the Man United academy graduate is happy with the way his time at his new team has gone.

Anthony Elanga was sold by Manchester United to Forest
Elanga says with a smile to Fotbollskanalen, “It has been perfect. “Before coming here, I spoke with the Nottingham Forest management. I am aware of the demands and game plans of the employers.

“Everything about the project is ideal for me. Despite just having played eight games so far, the season is long. I’ve scored goals and provided assists in several of our victories. Therefore, I am unable to criticize the season’s opening.

“All that is left to do now is to keep working hard.”

A’step down’ would have been used to define Elanga’s £15 million transfer by casual onlookers. But that’s not how the jet-heeled forward sees it. Elanga is quick to tell out that Forest has won the top award in European football twice.

Elanga’s growth is also greatly aided by consistent first-team action at the City Ground as opposed to infrequent cameo appearances at Old Trafford.

Already a goal and an assist

“Historically, Nottingham has been a terrific team. The former United winger claims, “They have won two Champions Leagues. “I guess you could say that I switched from one major team to another major squad. The disparity is not that great.

“Playing is vital. Playing helps you grow. Mistakes are possible, but you grow from them. I should thus play as much as I can.

“I’m still playing, even if I come off the bench and get to play 20 to 30 minutes.”
