1 crazy move the Yankees must make before the 2024 season

Should the Yankees and Guardians make this crazy trade?

This offseason, the New York Yankees upgraded their squad by dealing for outfielders Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo, as well as signing free agent Marcus Stroman. The Yankees’ prognosis for the 2024 season is optimistic at the moment, but they may benefit from adding one extra starting pitcher. What if New York made a crazy trade to land a past Cy Young winner?

The Yankees rotation is currently led by Gerrit Cole, the reigning AL Cy Young winner. Stroman also joins a rotation that includes Nestor Cortes and Carlos Rodón. Clarke Schmidt is a candidate to be New York’s No. 5 pitcher, but the Yankees should consider adding another pitcher if possible.

Shane Bieber of the Cleveland Guardians might perhaps solve all of New York’s problems. Furthermore, Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase would undoubtedly improve the Yankees’ bullpen.

The trade we propose today will not be your usual prospects-for-stars move. That would not be a crazy trade after all.
